Oakland A's 3B Brett Lawrie Recieved A Golden Sombrero On 12 Pitches
Ah, yes. The Golden Sombrero. A rare baseball feat that would be considered an outright anomoly if it weren’t for Ryan Howard and off-speed pitches. Striking out 4 times in one game is impressive, but getting punched out 4 times on 12 throws is something else. Even the kid in Little League who brought Magic cards to the game (here’s looking at you, Clancy) would get a pity ball here and there. Lowrie didn’t just get the Golden Sombrero, he earned that honor. The only saving grace is the man went down swinging each time. Still, a chimp with a clipboard or even Ruben Amaro could lockdown a scouting report on Lawrie. Off-speed, all day, any way.
